Let His Soul RIP

Vietnam Veedu Sundaram, a veteran Tamil filmmaker known for his association with MGR and Sivaji Ganesan in many yesteryear movies has passed away. He was aged 76, and was suffering from severe jaundice for the past few months.





The legendary writer is survived by his wife Chella and daughter Anu Parthasarathy who is a renowned costume designer.





Sundaram has also acted in many television serials, and has directed some notable theatrical plays.





Sundaram’s fame knew no bounds when he won the Best Dialogue writer award from Tamil Nadu state Government for his work in “Vietnam Veedu”. The film was released in 1970 and it featured Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role. After this movie, he added “Vietnam Veedu” in front of his name.





In his career, which spanned over 45 years, he directed more than a dozen movies, and wrote scripts for over 25 films.
