Updated on : 24 August 2016

Writer lyricist Kabilan Vairamuthu’s Meinigari is the first Indian novel on reality television. The book has gained a new recognition at the National Institute of Singapore. The author’s third novel has been included in the contemporary Tamil literature course. Dr.Vasugi Kailasam – lecturer for the South Asian Studies Programme has made this choice. Her statement follows:

“I have included kabilan vairamuthu’s “MeiNigari” in my contemporary Tamil literature course as an example of that which highlights how popular Tamil literature is attendant to the reading patterns of today’s attention deficient Tamil (youth) population. In addition to using a website to promote the novel (www.meinigari.com), the idea of using innovative narrative techniques is a unique one. The predominantly diasporic youth that have read the text in this class identified with the characters and enjoyed how the novel employs a cinematic imagination to tell the story”.

Kabilan Vairamuthu who is the younger son of popular lyricist Vairamuthu is at the moment busy screenwriting and lyric writing for many upcoming films in kollywood. K.V.Anand’s next with Vijay Sethupathi, Ajith-Siva’s next Thala57, Singam 3, Indirajith, Kashmora Gokul’s next, Mathiyal Vel are few major projects Kabilan is part of. The journalism graduate has also authored many a poems and short stories.
