Visaaranai Movie Enters To The 89th Academy Awards

Vetri Maaran's Tamil crime-drama Visaaranai has been selected as India's official Oscar entry to the 89th Academy Awards to be held next year.





Vetri Maaran's Tamil film Visaaranai has been selected as India's official Oscar entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards to be held next year.





The news was tweeted by south film industry insider Ramesh Bala. Silverscreen.in confirmed it soon.



The critically acclaimed film won three National Awards (Best Feature Film in Tamil, Best Supporting Actor for Samuthirakani and Best Editing) at the 63rd National Awards.





Visaaranai was adapted from the novel Lock up, written by a Coimbatore-based auto rickshaw driver M. Chandrakumar.





The film is Dhanush and director Vetri Maaran's fourth collaboration. While Dhanush acted in his first two films,





Dhanush and Vetri Maaran are currently shooting their fifth collaboration Vada Chennai. The film is a gangster trilogy and stars Dhanush in the lead role.
