Visaranai To Have Special Screening In AMPAS And HMPA

Visaranai, the Tamil docu-drama crime thriller, has been chosen India’s official entry to Best Foreign Language Film category at the 89th Academy Awards to be held in 2017.





The national award-winning film, directed by Vetrimaran, and produced by actor Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, documents four migrant workers who suffer police brutality and corruption after being jailed on false charges.





Part of the film is based on true events recorded in novel Lock Up, written by M. Chandrakumar, an autorickshaw driver from Coimbatore.





Vetrimaaran's critically acclaimed film 'Visaranai', which has won three National Awards, has been selected as India's official entry for Oscar awards in the Best Foreign Film category.





 In addition to these acclaims, this movie will have a special screening for the members of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) between November 17 to 28.





Notably, 'Visaranai' is inspired by the novel 'Lock Up.' 'Visaranai' has been getting accolades from all over the world for its realistic portrayal of police brutality in prisons.
