Ice Cream Industry Touches 12k cr Mark

IICE held in Chennai 150 exhibitors and 5500 visitors experienced the biggest Ice Cream event IICE in just two days



 





Ice Cream industry discussed the upcoming challenges in technical session and Seminar,



 





The eighth edition of South Asia’s only ice cream event ‘Indian Ice Cream Congress & Expo’ (IICE) kicked off at premises of Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai on 8 th and 9 th October 2018. Honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu Thiru. Banwarilal Purohit along with national and international players of ice cream industry inaugurated two- day event co-organised by IICMA & AIM Events with Bluestar India as its title sponsor.



 





Rajesh Gandhi- President IICMA in his welcome note said that IICE is the most significant platform for all ice cream companies who are willing to modernize their business or looking for better technologies, trends and ideas. It is the annual Grand Carnival of Indian ice cream industry conducted in various cities since last 8 years. Here, the ice cream players not only meet their suppliers of various services but also meet their counterparts coming from almost every part of India, East Asia & European countries.



 





He urged that it’s just not the per capita consumption of ice cream which is increasing but also consumers’ demand for the delicacy. Gandhi said that manufacturers are now investing on their capacity expansion as well innovating new flavours and this event is a perfect platform to get innovative ideas.



 





IICMA President further said that flavours keep changing according to the seasonal appetite but not the culture of ice cream making. These variant flavours make ice creams the most favourite sweet treat amongst our consumers age no bar. 



 





Sudhir Shah, Secretary of IICMA and MD of Scoops Ice Cream informed the media persons, Indian ice cream industry is one of the fastest growing segments of the dairy or food processing industry. From Rs 9000 crore in 2016, the ice-cream category has jumped to Rs 12,000 crore in 2018. Ice cream industry is growing at a rate of 15-20% year-on-year. India has a low per capita ice cream consumption of ice cream at 450 ml as compared with per capita consumption of ice cream of 22L in the United States and 3,000 ml in China. With the improving cold chain infrastructure in the country coupled with increasing disposable income and the changing lifestyle, the sector has great potential for growth, he said.



 





Shah duly acknowledges that the demand of high capacity machines in Indian ice cream industry is increasing and even the ice cream manufacturers in interior areas of country have now automated themselves. “ Conditions of supply chain had improved and taking the advantage of this ice cream companies are now marking their presence in tier 3 cities also”, said Shah.



 





“IICE event has become the need of the hour and best opportunity for all the manufacturers and suppliers of ice making machines, machineries for processing and cold chain, raw materials, ingredients, packaging and other services. It has become a regular feature to display their product due to be launched. This event makes it easy for the businessmen related in this field for the entire activity with just one GO”, acknowledge Shah.



 





Ashish Nahar Joint Secretary of IICMA and director of Fun India Dairy said that the increased consumer demand for production and innovation in ice cream segment could be attractive for dairy manufacturers who look to diversify their portfolios. Major ice cream producers made significant strides this year to push the category forward and align with both health and indulgence trends. “IICE is regularly contributing in the growth of Indian ice cream industry and with this platform we get introduced from advanced technology and by sure we are now competing the western countries in terms of technologies.



 





“Attending these events in sequence with continuous meetings and interactions gives an edge and unprecedented bonding between allied industry and ice cream manufacturers. Also one remains at par with the latest development in the ice cream industry”, said Nahar.



 



IICE with an aim to provide maximum service to its client is laddering growth by 100 per cent year on year. The show includes all activities which lead ice cream industries as well as manufacturers to their peak.



 



Second day of IICE will be dedicated to GICIC-Global Ice Cream Industry Conclave. GICIC will have panel discussion on latest topics of the industry. Numerous speakers from different quarters of the business have already announced their presentations on the subject of “Technologies revolutionizing ice cream manufacturing and storage”. Representatives of companies and experts from research institutions will be among the participants.



 



IICE with its other event partners like Bluestar, 2m Cocoa, Barry Callebaut, Morde Chocolate, Dupont, Kerry Ingredients, TetraPak, Ice Make Refrigeration and VKC Nuts received around 150 exhibitors and over 1000 ice manufacturers and players of allied industry and 5500+ visitors from all over the country and various parts of the world.



 



Companies providing freezing and handling machines, packaging machines and materials, equipment and

component suppliers, cone manufacturers, food ingredients companies, cold chain companies especially cold rooms and deep freezers, consultancy services, traders and stockists, raw material suppliers, milk powder and chocolate suppliers, ice cream bands looking for expansions participated as exhibitors in the show.



 



According to Firoz H Naqvi, show organize, leading companies dealing in refrigeration industry have showed their interest in the event. This year, many cold chain companies participated in the event. “ Foreign companies have showed much interest in our show benefiting domestic industry as we are now getting the advanced technology from them, I hope that upcoming show will be the World No.1 event in terms of ice cream”, said Naqvi.



 



Naqvi was glad that IICE 2018 had seen more visitors and exhibitors from the previous editions. He said the success of such events define industry growth rate. IICE 2019 will be taking place in India’s financial capital, Mumbai, informed he.
